Let's Listen to the Heartbeats of the Ocean and Atmosphere!

Japanese

Welcome to Shoshiro Minobe's HP

My research interest is variability, change and interaction of the atmosphere and the ocean, and their interactions from the perspective of climate science, at the Ocean Climate Physics Laboratory, Graduate School of Science, Hokkaido University.

Research

The main research themes conducted so far are as follows:
Late 1990s - Early 2000sDecadal-scale variability in the atmosphere and ocean
Late 2000s - PresentAtmosphere-ocean interaction in the mid-latitudes.
The first study in this series, Minobe et al. (2008), was featured on the cover of Nature.
Late 1990s - Early 2000sDecadal-scale variability in the atmosphere and ocean
2010sSea level rise
Late 2010s - PresentMarine biogeochemistry and marine ecosystem variability
2020sClimate prediction
The research methods primarily involve the analysis of existing data. Currently, the goal is to combine the explosively increasing data generated by computers with the much scarcer and valuable observational data to pioneer a new, rich world that surpasses the limits of both computation and observation.
